Methow River and Wildlife
During high water(May & June), many rafting groups & their customers use
our facilities to camp & launch from. Some rafting groups provide a shuttle bus service from the
camp ground to a launch point further up river.( refer to our Friends Links )After high water, we have a swimming hole where families can enjoy the sun & water. We offer inner tubes & life vests for rent at $3.00 per day. A very
nice inner tube ride is from our swimming hole to the other end of the park.
The Methow Valley is an excellent location for viewing wildlife. It is home range to the largest migratory mule deer herd
in Washington State. The two bucks in the one picture were coming back through the park after a drink
at 7am.
The rescent (fall, winter, spring) steelhead runs have had record numbers of steelhead,
and the fishing was outstanding. The steelhead shown in these pictures were caught in holes bordering the park. The summer trout fishing season was also very good. The colder weather also brings numerous eagles
to the valley. Hunting, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, motor cycle riding, fishing, photo & wildlife
viewing, horse riding, skiing, & other recreation areas are either on, adjacent or
very close to the park.
